The journey of bookbanquetroom.com began when Founder and CEO Sarosh Khatib experienced, first hand, the complexities with booking venues for events. Having 20+ years of hospitality industry experience, he had seen both sides of the coin and realized that the traditional process for booking venues is way too tedious and time consuming. After having a hard time externally coordinating venues for his family and friends, he decided it was time for change. Especially in a country as enthusiastic about celebrations and gatherings as India, an easier venue-booking process would be a win-win situation.

With the idea fresh in his mind, Sarosh determined his way forward after a casual chat with young IT executives in a restaurant one night, where one of them mentioned that “Technology is the future. Soon, it will be part of all fields”. He thought, if we can book tickets, cabs, hotel rooms, trips online, why not banquet venues? He got in touch with his friends and acquaintances to see if he could find like-minded people to join the new venture with him. As with every determined entrepreneur, he tried and failed a few times to bring his vision to life. But everything fell in place when a friend of his introduced Sarosh to our Co-Founder and CTO Mr. Balakrishna Ayalur.

According to Sarosh, Balakrishna (‘Bala’ sir, as we love to call him) understood his vision with the clarity no one before him had. It was an instant click! With his excitement bubbling over, Sarosh was on his way to Pune to visit Bala and his team within a week of the meeting. This led to them working together on the Bookbanquetroom.com software we all know and love today.
